Our Bowl Show for June – Aquatic Plants and New World Cichlids

Our June program, featuring some of the most important people in the local retail tropical and marine fish market will give you a chance to ask them questions, and for you to tell them your thoughts.  Don't miss it!

Upcoming Events at SDTFS
Monthly meetings normally begin with an auction. Sellers can start registering at 6:00 p.m., the auction starts at 6:30 and the program begins at 7:00. Check the paragraph on the specific event for variances from these times. Normally we have a large auction during the April and November meetings and they start at 5:00 p.m. Meetings are in room 101 of the Casa del Prado in Balboa Park. 

June 12, 2011- Stump the Experts, Panel of local Experts will answer your questions. Sam Garcia and Derek Grove from Aquatic Warehouse, and Jim Clarke from Fish Haven will be on the panel which will be moderated by Teresa Leon from Deep Sea Creations. This is your chance to meet several very prominent local tropical fish retailers and to learn from their expertise. This is also the first time we have held such a meeting with local tropical fish retailers. We are delighted to have their participation. Come with questions!

July 10, 2011 - Bob Fenner, one of San Diego's aquarists who is nationally and internationally known for his many books, articles in aquarium magazines, and knowledge of the industry will speak to us on a topic of his choice. Bob is a very accomplished "off the cuff" speaker who is also entertaining, funny and invites audience participation. This will be a great program.

September 11, 2011 - Armand Baritolli's South American Trip. 

October 9, 2011 - Program TBA

November 4, 5, 6, 2011 - Daylight Saving Time Ends. Annual Show in Balboa Park.

November 13, 2011 - Fall Auction

December 11, 2011 - Potluck, Room 101 (Our normal meeting room) If attending alone bring one hot item, if two people, bring one hot and one cold. Awards for the November Auction will be given. Elections for officers for 2011 will be held. The dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be no auction this month

I recently received these pictures from one of the Florida fish farms. The fish are so beautiful I wanted you to see them. As you probably know, these fish are not legal in California, so you are unlikely to see them at local fish stores.
