Upcoming Events at SDTFS

January 5, 2008, 10:00 a.m. to noon - Jeff Bouvier, a freelance writer for the Reader Newspaper, plans to write an article for the Reader on the tropical fish hobby in San Diego. 

He has asked if I could set up a field trip where he could meet a lot of the members in early January. I have recently made quite a few changes in my hatchery, so I have offered to have an open house here, and invite our members to attend and possibly be interviewed by him. His intention is to follow up with some of the members, and possibly visit  some of them in their own homes.

The Date for this is Saturday January 5th, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We will have coffee and donuts. This is of course the same day as the Installation Dinner, and there is more information on this below.

The Place is 2545 Ridgeway Drive, # B, National City, CA. From the North go south on Hwy 805 to the Sweetwater Road Exit in National City. As you come down off the freeway the exit will turn into Euclid as you cross Sweetwater road. Take Euclid North to the top of the hill. Go right on Ridgeway to the second driveway on the left, but park outside on the street and walk down the drive. Phone (619) 267-2236 if you get lost.

Also January 5, 2008 - Installation Dinner - Club will pay $6, Members will pay $7 on a $13.00 dinner at the Boll Weevil in Imperial Beach. There will be appetizers, steak, chicken, shrimp, vegetarian, salad, potatoes, soft drinks. Beer and Shakes are extra to be paid for by the attendee. It will be Buffet style. Games and Installation of new officers.

January 13, 2008 - Monthly Membership Meeting, Program –  Bill Cline, “Fish and Oxygen”. This will begin for Auction Sellers at 6:00 p.m., for Auction buyers at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7:00 p.m. It will be in room 101 at the Floral Building in Balboa Park, our normal location.

February 23, 2008 - Field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940. This is a Saturday, and we will meet at the museum at 10:00 am. Admission is $25.00 per person. You will need to arrange your own transportation to get to Monterey, though there is ride sharing being set up. For more information on the aquarium visit their web site mbayaq.org.
