September Program
Date: Sunday, September 10, 2006
Place: Room 101, Casa del Prado, Balboa Park
Time: 7 pm. Arrive at 6 pm to sell items at the monthly
auction; Auction begins at 6:30
Program:
Program: Inventions,
Innovations, Gadgets and Antiques - This will be in a show
format. Each person displaying will have a table on which they can
exhibit. There will be no speaker presentation, but rather an open
format which will allow you to see how other people care for their fish.
It will be a great way to meet and communicate with other members. You
will be able to move from table to table as you wish.

Mark Allen - Innovations and inventions.
Jimmy Cobleigh - Aquarium antiques and publications.
Mark Ferguson - Electric Fish Demonstration
Craig Fries - Sponge filter for a system, siphons, books and more.
David Huie - Old books, foreign language books and more.
Ben Ivy - Mock up auto water change system, aquarium vacuum, brine
shrimp hatchery.
Chris Jensen - a Turn On Timer
Charles Pratt - Making your own sponge filters, devices to help drain
and refill tanks with garden hoses.
If you are not listed, you can still display. Just bring your items.
September Field Trip
September 16, 2006 Saturday - Field Trip: Tour of the Leon Raymond
Marine Fish Hatchery in Carlsbad at 10:00 AM. Directions to our facility
and recommendations to make your tour more enjoyable follow. (Be sure to
note details on parking and shoes.) The hatchery is located at 4200
Garfield St. in Carlsbad.
Directions: From the North: Take highway 5 south to the Tamarack Ave.
Exit in Carlsbad Exit off the freeway (right turn, heading west) onto
Tamarack Avenue Turn left at the 4-way stop onto Garfield St. The road
dead ends after several blocks. Just prior to, and to the right of the
barricade at the dead end there is a gated drive that leads down the
hill. Push the Call button on the left side of the gate which will ring
down at our facility. When hatchery staff answer your call, they can
open the gates for your vehicle.
From the South: Take highway 5 north to the Tamarack Ave. Exit in
Carlsbad Exit off the freeway (left turn, heading west) onto Tamarack
Avenue Turn left at the 4-way stop onto Garfield St. The road dead ends
after several blocks. Just prior to, and to the right of the barricade
at the dead end you will see a gated drive that leads down the hill.

Please note: On weekends there are limited staff in the office to
answer your call. Unless they know what time to expect you, they may not
be able to hear your call. Parking: We have limited parking at the
hatchery and cannot use neighborhood street parking. As such, your group
needs to carpool as much as possible, and then park down at the hatchery

carpooling.) Please park in marked parking spaces, or check with
hatchery personnel if no marked spaces are available. Attire: Please
have your group wear closed-toed, flat-soled shoes that won’t be
ruined if they get wet. |
